This warm, rich, opulent and spicy oriental floral perfume will forever be the embodiment of nostalgia, youth, friendship and love for me. It is such a naughty and trampy fragrance that will indeed rapture people who smell it. (It was the mini bottle and not labeled.) One of the most enticing scents I've ever smelled! Girls, this IS your grandma's rose perfume. is not behind this delish frag. People have described this as deep, warm, ambery, woody, floral, like velvet, and animalic, sensual, spicy. And over-spraying would be more than one push of the nozzle. Nope, not at all. I hate to say it, but it has the "grandma" factor. I was on my way out the door of VS when I caught Rapture's bottle out of the corner of my eye, and was drawn in. Not sure if I like this one, I remember loving it as a teenbut I think I may have outgrown it. I like the warmth and ambery glow but its a bit on the woody side for my taste. Or maybe they changed the perfume. But it does last long so I really wished it would have worked for me. In the end the vanilla is strong and beautiful smell like powdery vanilla like a baked cookie. The last time I wore this was when my boyfriend at the time bought it for me as a Valentines Day gift. I really like this one but I probably won't ever wear it until I am older : ) Definitely more mature smelling! Heavy oriental musk on me. Others seem to love it, I can only imagine Aunt Bea from the old Andy Griffith shows when I spray this. This and Heavenly are the onlynones I like. I have the cologne spray, vintage 1992 edition. I really wish it wasn't discontinued. And yet. Oh, ravishing Rapture: how I relish you! I don't think it smells that much like BIJAN - I think it smells much closer to AMBER ROMANCE it just has that same unmistakable cosy, creamy, comforting, deep amber and fancy lace, romantic, maternal hug kind of aura, with a touch of sweetness. Rapture is the most mature scent I've smelled from Victoria's Secret. Since this is the first perfume someone bought me in high school, it has always had a special place in my heart. But occasionally I'll catch a whiff on the right person and I'm like "Ok, nice, well done on you.". I wore this today, and my six-year-old who shouldn't know anything about how old women smell said I smelled like grandma may, who is 90 years old. I'll need to give this a full wear (as I also ordered the body lotion). Ladies, if you're really missing Rapture, (I'm writing this in 2018) try CHILD by Susan Owens! This one had a sourness that smelled intensely of dead, possibly moldy flowers. The good news is right now VS is selling it for 75% off. Its spicy and warm, but it doesnt feel welcoming; more like challenging. I would buy this just because of that. What a shame! I'd love to find a dupe that lasts. Ok to those who love this VS has it on their website right now! Top notes are Orange Blossom and Citruses; middle notes are Jasmine, Bulgarian Rose and Freesia; base notes are Amber, Heliotrope, Vanilla and Musk. As my friend and I walked by the water, delicate whiffs of almonds and roses wafted around me in the most magical way. I've been dying to try it and so glad I finally did!Now on my want list! Yet she has bijan and loves it. Victoria Secret used to make good parfum in the 90s but now is trash. Trust me, it's not like anything VS offers currently. Very amber-y and powderish in a way. At first spray, I'm immediately reminded of Red door, minus the honey and plum. I always feel more put together when I'm wearing it. There's also a very nice vanilla dry down. Spicy and exotic scent, can't go wrong with that! After awhile i was actually nauseated from the smell. Just not pleasant and not sexy, IMO. I always give a perfume 3 tries before I make a final decision. Rapture is a full bodied white floral with a slightly metallic quality. and it was like a cross between Rafinee and Bijan but way lighter and more honey. Easily overpower. I knew it was cheap, especially on the dry down (in contrast to Raffinee, which got more intense with time, this fainted), but it was different than a lot of the fruity lilac crap that was being pushed in retail stores of the time. It's definitely for grown up ladies and something to wear on a romantic date. We were friends since childhood and inseparable. Very classy. I smelled this in the store the other day and liked it very much! I have been wearing this intoxicating scent for about 7 years and I tell u nothing but sexy describes this. I need a dupe so I dont run out of my bottle. I have been wanting to try this for years and finally got myself a bottle (this is super hard to obtain in my country) since it is so often compared to my most favourite scents - Escada Margaretha Ley and Spellbound, I am also a fan of Bijan but it is a tad too soapy/pollen like yellow floral and I can't wear it - this is sadly the same case this is super soapy, heavy on jasmine and aldehydes (smells like a cross between No5 and Arpege) and it takes about 2 hours for it to settle down into a heady cloying headache inducing, soapy iritating aroma of Imperial Leather soap. Blew me away! Erba Pura wishes it could be this good. Anything that isn't fruity floral, is old lady territory to them. This is one of the scents that started my love affair with perfume. It's a sweet, woody, ambery, very feminine perfume. I found this stuff going through some old crap in a closet. I feel like I'm crazy to detect ash tray but I grew up in a house with smoking. Please please, add the original Victoria perfume with the blue cap, to the database!! Love, love, LOVE this one! I like that it is a more "mature" smell, as the VS fragrances are mostly sweet and not terribly sophisticated to my nose. Best of VS. Buy it before they discontinue it. Smell sexy and good for wearing when you want to dress up in beautiful dress and go to dinner with husband. I agree that it is mature, but very warm and inviting. This *Is* Your Mother's Victoria's Secret (or at least your older sister's). This is my first dance with Rapture and it really seems to me that this is what a grown woman is supposed to smell like. But I smell pretty rich lol. Got this as a birthday present. This is so nostalgic; I love it. Rapture was launched in 1992. This was my very first perfume that I chose when I was a little girl. The beginning is clearly feminine but the dry down is unisex. Its definitely strong; long lasting and plus I got it for $20 and the body mist which was like $7 at the SAS. Like another reviewer said, rose is not mentioned as a note but I definitely get strong rose. I really like the bottle, one thing I dislike about it is that it doesnt last long enough (for a night perfume). But this is one of the best orange blossom perfumes, which is saying quite a lot, because it is one of my favorite notes. Also is very close or related to Revlon's Ciara which is also great on me (but only in the winter)! Its bold and it smells of the time it was released but I think its really really good. I have the original mist bottle, 3/4 full. Fragrantica Inc, United States. I love the scent. I bought this perfume on ebay and it smells just as heavenly as the first time I put my nose to it. No, its not an "old lady" scent, its a scent for confident sexy woman. I like ambery, spicy fragrances sometimes, but only when they linger closer to the skin. Cloying vanilla scent and not in a good way. One of my favorites from Victoria's Secret. Anyone notice this? I detected this scent from a customer at work from ten feet away. I had this in 1993-94. Yes, the bottle is a little cheezy, but the scent it really sexy and warm. I dont think that it is only for mature women,im only 24 and it smells sweet and warm on me. The amber dry down makes it smell like a gourmand and is so soft I kept forgetting I had it on except for the occasional waft. Smells like a bouquet after having been left out to bake in the sun all day. So beautiful and romantic. Fragrance Reviews: 1,287,955 Is the heart shaped amber gold bottle in the photo on this page. suitable for winter and fall. This is a nice warm earthy musk but without being overbearing or outdated. Why do they always discontinue the best ones???? This started off too strong with a weird almost chemical note (sorry, I'm no good at discerning notes) that made me think maybe I was crazy for thinking I liked this at the store. To me it has potent projection but there's something that reminds me of a heavy floriental fragrance mixed with ash tray. You have to wear it with your best evening clothes. Thank you Victoria Secret! he's picky.I get complimented on my scent whenever I wear this . A fantastic offering from Victoria's Secret! Winter decent only. Thank goodness my birthday is coming up next week. RAPTURE to my nose actually smells a lot like AMBER ROMANCE - it's just a bit richer and more vintage and complex smelling but definitely the same DNA as AMBER ROMANCE. Rich, sensual, long-lasting. Since I've collected the very original formulation (a simple tall vial with the old VS heart on it, the Victoria in the blue was in the same kind of vial), and the 0.75 ounce heart spray that doesn't stand, that was made somewhere between the first round and the 2000 round. For the best version buy the cologne. I have been searching for the perfect romantic, evening perfume and this is it! Sampled this yesterday during their big January sale and my first thought, "wow, that *is* good". If the current bottle was more creative I would have bought it. I tried it again the other day and its everything I remembered-slightly spicy warm floral oriental with a hint of sweetness. More sweet then spicy. And probably many of the members here would LOVE to see it added! This perfume along with the ORIGINAL Victoria perfume, came from that era and is why they are so different from the junk (my opinion) they churn out at a fever pitch these days.Victoria was my signature for many years and just breathtakingly beautiful. My husbands favorite scent on me. Is deep, mysterious and sexy. Thank God they haven't discontinued this one too. One of my top five of all time. When sniffed it comes off very sultry and a tall, expensively dressed woman with red lipstick, red nails, gold jewelry come to mind. Normally I prefer sweeter gormand scents but I am drawn to this because its so heady, sensual and womanly. This is so beautiful and such a shame it has fallen on the wayside. Old Hollywood sexy!. Unfortunatly it is strong and lasts a while. It was so classy, and I hear it's long since been discontinued. However, I wouldn't say that makes it inappropriate for someone in their teens, twenties, or thirties. Rapture does not smell the same on everyone, and I think too many women wear "clean" perfumes because they don't want to offend. Also found the original Victoria secret one in the squatty, wide bottle with the vertical ridges along the sides, faux brass top, and cobalt blue cap. Or at least, it comes pretty close. I'm really picky about what aroma I give off - not snobby, mind you, just irritatingly fickle. This is sandalwood, amber very slight florals and a tiny bit of vanilla. I'm kind of confused because I've never had this happen to me with the perfume before, something I adored so dearly I'm now repulsed At and probably will never wear again. However, like so many good things, it is discontinued. Its a cozy scent but apply very gently. I love the bottle, but the initial spray is strong, old-school, a bit on the chemical-granny type thing, but as it stats to dry down it gets tamed and you start getting amber. People often mistake this for Organza, Indcence , Casmir which I find interesting. Love! Not bad, but not my character. Such a wonderful scent, its nice when you are going out at night, its not to be used at day time or work because it's a bit strong. I haven't smelled it in years. Absolutely love this perfume! Amber is really prominent since opening (until the very end), followed by a huge bouquet of white floral. I want to start by saying how much I love this perfume. The older design was more unique. There is something to be said about 80s and 90s when perfume actually smelled like perfume and not fruity water. I actually LOVE to smell it on others, but when I wear it myself it gets to me after awhile and I have to wash it off :( I have a bottle that I just can't get rid of even though I have a problem wearing itcan someone please explain to me why>??? i can detect some medical hints which one i love, it's from the freesia i guess. She never let me even touch them, XD; she treasured them, her precious. When it was discontinued, I was fortunate to hear about it and bought extra bottles so I won't run out. My review is for the version in the square bottleIm sorry but this is a Epic Fail from Victorias Secret!!! I very much appreciate the overviews and all the feedback from users. it's the interpritation of sexy from a retro era. Maybe I've changed, my tastes have changed, everything else in the perfume world has changed to that the perception of this is so different. This has a little class. Ooooooo, wonderful! This kind of perfume isn't popular anymore, but it leaves an impression. 2 to go. It was a sultry musky "honeymoon" perfume back then (LOL). Rapture is sharp, but also hugely bold, in the way of many classic vintage perfumes from the 7595 era. I haven't tried the body lotion, so maybe that's more tolerable, but I have to pass on this one. ( Luvs baby soft was my first at 5yrs old.) In addition, I am in love the Baroque/Rococo faux bronze/brass heart bottle it just looks so special - like a real treasure! I would never have tried Rapture if a dear Fragrantican had not sent me a mini splash in a care package. I was a little worried at first, that this would be too strong for me or too "old", but it's actually not that bad, I quite like it. I chose this while out with my mom and she bought me the set. I ended up covering it with another perfume to dampen the smell a bit. This is hardly recognizable as a VS scent - it's that different from their current offerings. I just got my bottle in the mail and I'm absolutely amazed at how beautiful this is. I don't suggest blind-buying, or even buying this. Warm sweet amber, so sexy and intoxicating. Ok, even though I didn't like it, I'm able to appreciate Rapture's beauty. Yes, it does have a gourmand feel with the heliotrope. The first bottle I had was made in 2000-2003. Does anyone think this smells a little different than it did in the 90's? Sorry its discontinued along with my other VS favorite Heavenly. The amber is very prominent and is so warm and sensual. If you like scents like Samsara, Opium and Baiser du Dragon you will probably like this. I don't detect any citruses, maybe because of the heliotrope base that dominates it. The darker notes evaporate and all that's left is sickening sweetness. The best VS has to offer IMO and Probably my very favorite orange blossom scent. VS scents have been lighter lately and I think the heavy amber is something you would see with an older fragrance. Very long lasting and comforting floral. I tried it today now December and cold and 100% different as a MUST HAVE for winter. Powerhouse sillage and amazing staying power,it is a COLOGNE that wears better and lasts longer than some EDPs. I guess she wasn't crazy about that one either but it was half used so maybe she liked it a little bit. It's very old fashioned and on the Oriental side. My husband absolutely loves it. I get amber and vanilla (not listed) the strongest; the flowers are blended in well, and the amber tempers them so that you get a smell that is warm (not "spicy" in a cinnamon way), powdery and sweet all at once. Hmm was surprised to see this compared to Spellbound. My sister and I both used to wear this one in the early 90's. I adore the scent of this. Love it !!!! performance is great. It's highly sought after and prized among collectors. It was gorgeous to me. Pouty face. My husband bought this for me about 21 years ago, along with the body lotion. They brought it back. Wrong! I have a tiny bit left in my old bottle and it definitely didn't smell like the stuff they were selling in the storeI was disappointed. The dry part is warm with amber and musk. This is why minis I think are a good idea when one is trying out perfumes. Warm and soft, yet quite strong and prominent with good staying power. Rapture notes: vanilla, citrus, jasmine, rose, musk, amber and wood base note. My husband hated it and thought it smelled like a little old lady. I had the heart shaped years ago. It may just be my body chemistry, as I normally adore rose fragrances. Sometime smell of a sweet liqueur. I tried it on today not knowing what it was, and that was probably a blessing, because I am kind of prejudiced against Victoria's Secret fragrances. I tried to give this one a whirl but it just doesn't mix with my chemistry - kind of smelled like insecticide. Please read the Terms of Service and Privacy policy. Rapture is everything Victoria Secret intended it to be. I'm a Rapture collector. This is one I tossed in the garbage. The atomizer is one that you can open and refill with whatever you wanted. This is something I can wear all year round; I try not to smell it too much upclose lol then Ill hate it. I bought this in the Summer and almost sold because it is not a summer scent. One of the classic V.S. I am in my 40's now, and ever since this was released in the early 90's (when I was in my twenties), I am completely powerless against this perfume One of my favorite perfumes. I caught this scent on a co-worker who was walking past my desk. So sad about it, too. I wish they had brought back the old bottle too, but what's inside is more important. It makes me feel sexy and younger, not older despite the mature scent association. It has a dark and sexy scent, like nothing else I have ever worn. I honestly couldnt love this more. Yummy amber oriental beautiful fume. I do have to say that the bottle design is unique and attractive. It is a tamer version of Tiffany & Co.'s original perfume! I'm STILL bitter about THAT discontinuation, by the way. This is a bold, heady, in your face, sweet floral-amber fragrance. I could smell it on her when I was several feet away. Woody(musky), spicy with a hint of sweet. I tried this one back when it first came out. I would put it in the same category as Bijan(which is spicier) or Tresor(which is more floral). I think they changed the formula. It definitely smells "dated" as it isn't on trend with the fragrances of now. This perfume is a mature, cozy, warm, golden, rich, luxurious, floral amber. Sweet but not girly girl very womanly. Very old school in a good way. Still beautiful and seductive as it always has been! It was so ambery, powdery, a little floral, slightly spicy. I first smelled it on my coworker back in early nineties, it was her signature scent. On me I have had people 6 feet away smell me from social distancing. I also thought it seemed more appropriate for an older woman. The most mature scent VS ever made. My mom used to wear this when I was younger, and I remember stealing it from her to wear itso maybe I'm biased toward it, but I think it smells so warm and nice"mature", of course, but people always tell me that I'm very mature for my age, so maybe I just have "mature" tastes. Online right now: 2,449, Fragrantica in your language: My stepmom used to wear that and so this brings a nostalgia with it, reminds me of going out for nice dinners, to theaters, on vacations. Back then, I had no idea what was in it, and didn't care. If maybe wear it to a Christmas party but not everyday. (If anyone wants to try this, happy to swap a decant for my want list. I am very happy with my minis. I loved it so much! I bought it mainly for the nostalgia Unisex/femme fragrance. Gosh, how I miss the Victoria Secret fragrances from the pre-PINK era. Was my signature for 20+ years. I'm really bummed out that this fragrance has been discontinued. I remember it being more musky and powdery Any opinions? Rapture is an old love of mine. Definitely the most intoxicating of the VS scents. I love how Victoria's Secret through the ages has gone above and beyond to offer us that special pampered treatment that their beautifully packaged and lovely smelling fragrances evoke. A well made perfume, im surprised it's discontinued. I ordered the new bottle version online for semi annual sale. I will update after a few wears. I tested this in the store and while it's got great silage (very strong, this one), there is a very powerful smell in this that is "off" to me. This is all about the Rose, Jasmine, and Amber. It does seem like a scent for a more mature woman. You are the best! If I am remembering the early 90s correctly, I think this was the first fragrance Victoria's Secret ever put out and boy did it hit out of the ballpark that holiday season! This smells nothing like the original version. Nice but not surprising or different. unfortunately my husband hates it :(, lasting power is great on metoo bad I can't wear it around him Rapture is an intoxicating, unique and complex fragrance; evoking many different moods depending on the weather, your skin chemistry, or your attire. Then heliotrope and rose - but frankly, these are the only notes I get, and maybe some faint underlying vanilla. I have both and while the Amouage is definitely better, the main notes and general feel is the same. Evidently it was something my mother had packed away because it was too strong for her. If you are looking for something fruity and pink, do not stop here. I really hope it's an affordable version to my beloved Este Lauder Spellbound.. Just blind bought a bottle at a very reasonabe price. I have issues with Samsara because of the strong sandalwood, it can come across as too masculine on me. whenever i wore it i pictured being in a smoky 1940's piano bar kinda like bogie and bacall era. It is a strong fragrance, and kind of screams "I am sexy, come to me!!" Best for fall / winter nights, spicy and warm.
